Legaler Aid (“Legaler Aid”, “we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to the transparent collection and use of personal information.
This notice describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit the website legaleraid.org (our “Site”). We are sharing this notice to provide you with information on how we collect, use, disclose, transfer and store your personal information.
Please read this notice carefully to understand how we treat your personal information. If you do not agree with this notice, you must not use the Site. By visiting the Site, you are accepting the practices described herein. We reserved the right to update this notice to reflect any changes in our practices.
Terms not defined in this notice shall have the meanings as set forth in Legaler Aid’s Terms of Use.
Information We Collect
Personal information will be collected through your use of this Site. Such information can be derived from but is not limited to electronic messages between you and this Site or from your correspondence(s) with us (including, e.g., emails, texts, instant messages, etc.).
Personal information about you may also be collected from one or more of the following:
· Your submission of a proposed Case or potential Cause for which you are seeking funding;
· Your completion (including partial) of forms on the Site;
· Responses to surveys;
· Details of transactions that you carry out through or on the Site or through third-party services offered through the Site;
· Details from social media platforms and other sources used by you or individuals with whom you are associated or otherwise connected with;
· Search queries on the Site;
· Automatically as you navigate through the Site; and
· Other information about you from third parties and other sources.
Information You Provide To Us
Personal information that you provide may include, but is not limited to, your name; email address; postal address; telephone number; nickname; social security number; password; payment information (e.g., the amount of your donation, credit or debit card, cryptocurrency wallet address, bank account information, and other forms of payment); personal information that you include in User Content or that you provide about a Case, Cause, and/or organization; your legal representation or other organization or entity with whom you are connected or represented by; social media information and login details; comments; photos; videos; feedback; and any other personal information that you choose to provide to us.
If you provide any information regarding a third party, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to do so by contract or applicable law, and that you permit us to use the information in accordance with this notice.
It is your decision whether to provide personal information to us, but please be advised that you may be required to provide personal information in order to use the Site and services offered through it.
Information That We Automatically Collect
As you navigate through and interact with the Site, we automatically collect information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns, including: details of your visits to the Site (e.g., traffic data, location data, logs, and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on the Site), information about your computer and internet connection such as your internet protocol address, internet service provider, operation system, and browser type.
We additionally use cookies and other technologies that automatically collect information about you and your interaction with the Site. Please refer to the Cookies and Other Technologies section for more information.
Information That We Receive from Third Parties and Other Sources
In addition to the personal information that you provide to us, we may receive personal information from third parties and other sources, including publicly available sources, third-party analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics), and other third parties.

· Provide you with information, products, or services that you request from us or choose to receive (e.g., donation processing, payment processing, registration or renewal of you as a donor or supporter, or information and updates about Cases, Causes, events, or services);
· Provide you with information that you have chosen to receive;
· Present the Site and its contents to you;
· Set up your user account;
· Notify you about changes to the Site and any products or services we offer or provide through it;
· Allow you to participate in interactive features on the Site;
· Respond to your questions or comments;
· Request and accept donations;
· Administer and inform our strategies and charitable activities;
· Improve the development of our products and services;
· Carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including billing and collection;
· Enforce or apply our Terms of Use and carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from any agreements entered into between you and us, including billing and collection;
· Fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it; and
· For our internal business processes and purposes or in any other way that we may describe when you provide information.
Aggregate or Anonymized Information
We may use and disclose aggregate and/or anonymized personal information for any lawful purpose.
Disclosure of Your Information
We disclose personal information that you provide to us to: employees, contractors, agents, and affiliates; service providers; business partners who are collaborating with us or have a business need to know of such information; entities, individuals, and/or Case Owners that receive donations from you; and law firms, attorneys, solicitors, and organizations that are involved in your Case or Cause.
We may also disclose your personal information if we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Legaler Aid, its donors, affiliates, you, or others and/or to comply with a court order, subpoena, legal process or applicable law, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.
Fundraising Campaigns and Donations
The Site allows you to provide information regarding a Case or Cause for which you are seeking to raise funds. Please be aware that User Content that you provide regarding your Case or Cause may become available to the public if the listing for the Campaign is approved by Legaler Aid.
In addition, if you decide to donate to a Case or Cause, your name and donation amount may be publicly available on the Site. Should you desire to have your donation appear without such information, you have the option to opt-out of disclosing such information publicly at the time of donation.
Should you choose to share or follow a Case or Cause on the Site, your social media account information may be linked to such action and may be publicly viewable.
How We Store and Protect Your Information
The protection of your personal information is important to us. We use a variety of security measures to protect your personal information. We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure.
The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of the Site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask that you not share your password with anyone. We urge you to be careful about giving out personal information especially where such information is publicly available.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to the Site. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Site.
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, California law may provide you with additional rights regarding our use of your personal information.
California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code Section § 1798.83) permits users of the Site that are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”), California residents are given a right to know about the personal information that a business collects and shares. The CCPA also gives California residents a right to delete, opt-out of the sale of their personal information, and a right to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights under the CCPA. This notice provides users of the Site with information about the personal information that is collected, used, disclosed, transferred, and stored by us. Legaler Aid neither sells the personal information of the Site’s users nor does it discriminate against users who exercise their privacy rights.

Nevada Privacy Rights
Nevada residents who wish to exercise their sale opt-out rights under Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 603A may submit a request to this designated address: hello@legaleraid.org. However, please know we do not currently sell personal information triggering that statute’s opt-out requirements.
Minors
The Site is not intended for anyone under eighteen (18) years of age. No one under age eighteen (18) may provide any personal information to or on the Site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you are under eighteen (18), do not use or provide any information on this Site or through any of its features, or provide any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, or any screen name or user name you may use. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from anyone under the age of eighteen (18) without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a minor under the age of eighteen (18), please contact us at hello@legaleraid.org.

We are not responsible for the content on third-party websites or their applicable policies. We recommend that you read such policies prior to use of any third-party website.

The Site uses cookies to collect, store, and track user information for statistical purposes and Site usage to improve your experience while using the Site. By deleting your personal information your user account, if applicable, may also be deleted. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

It is our practice to post any changes we make to our privacy notice on this page.
